Yvonne (Cleaver) Goins, age 82, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at home.
Yvonne was born on December 25, 1940, in Allen County, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Edna (Morgan) Cleaver.
She married Ivan Goins on June 15, 1957, and had three children. The family moved to Colony in March of 1967. Yvonne took care of the farm and kids while Ivan worked out of town. While she hated cooking, she made a hell of a roast. She loved going to the store for coffee and socializing. In the evenings she enjoyed visiting with friends and playing Farkle. Yvonne had a special place in her heart for her dogs, the hummingbirds outside her window, and the deer in the pasture. Being a farmer's wife is what consumed most of her time. She could be found successfully delivering Ivan's lunch bucket across the corn field in her Buick LaSabre "the tank."
Yvonne had a soft spot in her heart for her grandkids, great-grandkids, and grand-dogs. She taught her grandkids the finer things in life including remixed nursery rhymes and what to say when you smash your thumb.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Edna Cleaver; her son, Dale Goins; and sisters, Myrna Stackley, Nina Sonka and Rebecca Manspeaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ivan Goins; daughters, Jeannie Jackson and Dan and Lorena Goins; grandchildren, Paul Goins, Zeb Jackson and Mandi, Lacy Goins, and Danielle Bernal and Mark; great grandchildren, Nayeli Jackson, Brady Jackson, Larkin Bernal, Everly Jackson and Boone Bernal.
The family is planning memorial services for a later date.
