Vivian Michael

Vivian Mae Michael, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 24, 2024.

Vivian was born on March 13, 1938, in Carthage, Missouri to Windol Owen and Emma Mary Butler. Shortly after her birth, Vivian's father was killed in an accident. Her mother remarried Phil Butler, and he raised Vivian from the time she was four years old. She lived in Kansas City until she was twelve years old, then moved to Iola where she finished high school with the Iola graduating class of 1956.

On August 16, 1956, Vivian married Sterlin Michael. They made their home in Iola, where they raised their five children. Together, Vivian and Sterlin traveled to 48 of the 50 states. She liked to attend church at Fellowship Regional regularly. In Vivian's later years, she enjoyed keeping up with the Royals, and attended many of their games with family and friends. She loved to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren, and cherished time together during the holiday season.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sterlin; son, Wendoll Michael; sister, Judy Helman; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Michael.

Vivian is survived by children, Tim (Cheri) Michael of Iola, Daniel Michael of Iola, John Michael of Emporia, Theresia (Randy) Lampe of Iola, and Mark (Alysha) Michael of Uniontown; sister, Jo Ann Butler of Iola, and Margaret Robb of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Memorial services for Vivian are planned for Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service chapel. Family will greet friends on March 5, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Services, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
