Maxine Redfearn, age 98, of Iola, Kansas, passed away November 13, 2025, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kansas. Maxine was born August 8, 1927, in Buffalo, Kansas, to John Herb and Mary Etta (Boss) Herb.
Maxine graduated in 1944 from Toronto High School, Toronto, Kansas. Maxine and H.E. (Bud) Redfearn, Jr. were married August 29, 1948, in Toronto, Kansas.
Maxine taught school for a few years after graduating high school. She finished her working career in 1995 as a banker with Eureka Federal Savings & Loan, Iola, Kansas.
Maxine was a member of Eastern Star and Wesley United Methodist Church. She served on the local PRIDE Committee with community beautification, because of her love for flowers and gardening. Maxine belonged to several other local clubs and organizations. She volunteered at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; daughter, Linda Knight; two grandsons, Justin Redfearn, Jeremy Knight; two sisters, Velma Herb, Audene Herb; one brother, Duane Herb; and special friend, DeWayne Vance.
Maxine is survived by her children, Royce (Suzy) Redfearn, Synda (Mel) Kitts, Renee Redfearn; grandsons, Bryan Knight, Royce (Brook) Redfearn, Jr., Holden Kitts; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Brynn, Bailey Redfearn; sister, Twila Cole; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
