Tammy Matney

Tammy Matney, age 59, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away surrounded by her family on January 27, 2026.

She was born on March 23, 1966, to Louis "Jack" and Velma (Croan) Hermreck in Garnett, Kansas. Tammy was united in marriage to Kevin Matney on May 18, 2006, and together they shared many years of love and companionship.

Tammy was a true country gal at heart. She cherished her family, her friends, her children, and her animals, especially her chickens and cows. She found joy in the simple things in life and believed in living life to the fullest, always ready for a good time and a good laugh. Tammy had a deeply caring heart and opened her home to foster children, giving love, patience, and kindness to those who needed it most. She consistently put others before herself, a trait she carried with her even to her final day.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Matney; her children, Cassie and bonus children Hunter Matney, Dakota Matney and Sierra Drimmel; grandchildren; Zoey, Zane, Marias, Roslyn, Hunter; her brothers, Jim Hermreck, Vernon Hermreck, Carl Hermreck, and Randy Hermreck; her sister, Deborah Tummons; her mother- and father-in-law, David Matney and Kathleen Strawder; along with many other family members and friends who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis "Jack" and Velma Hermreck; and her sons, Brian Lee Hermreck and DaVon'te Brockington.

Tammy's warmth, generosity, and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 2, 2026, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.
Tammy's family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 9:30 A.M. Monday morning. Memorial contributions in Tammy's honor may be made to Feuerborn Family Funeral Service to help defray funeral expenses.
