Sharon Fritz, age 83, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born on August 20, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Wesley Elliott and Lillian Pearl Wiseman Elliott. Sharon grew up in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, where she met the love of her life, Frank Fritz. She graduated from Turner High School with the Class of 1960.
On July 9, 1960, Sharon was united in marriage to Frank L. Fritz in Miami, Oklahoma. Their marriage was blessed with three sons. Throughout their life together, Sharon and Frank moved often, living in Kansas City, Missouri, Los Angeles, California, Garnett,Kansas, Weston, Missouri, Arlington,Texas, and Burlington, Kansas. They eventually settled in Garnett, where they made their home for the past 33 years.
Sharon devoted much of her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, though she also worked outside the home, including several years as a bank teller. She was an avid reader, and in her final days, her grandchildren Jenna and JW lovingly continued reading aloud to her from the last book she had begun. Sharon enjoyed trips to the casino, most recently to Hollywood Casino at the Legends with her grandson Bryce. Sharon always enjoyed her visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She also cherished her many penpals, faithfully keeping in touch with Everett "Butch" Fritz, David Meadow (granddaughter Jenna's boyfriend), Hallie Fritz, and Sr. Maria Mater Dei. She also kept in touch with several high school classmates also known as her Bridge Club Ladies. They include Connee Hays, Sharon Frazier, Dutch Conner, Melinda Sparks, Vicki McGraw, Nancy Inlow, Jackie Davis, Judy Thomas, and Karen Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Fritz; and her sons, Kary Fritz, Scott Fritz, and Wesley Fritz; brother, Pat Elliot.
Sharon is survived by her grandchildren, Sister Maria Mater Dei Fritz of Detroit, Michigan, John Wesley (JW and Ale) Fritz, of Overland Park, Kansas, Bryce and (Abbie) Fritz of Shawnee, Kansas, Emily and (Austin) Akes of Parker, Kansas, Jenna Fritz of Wichita, Kansas, and Hallie Fritz of Wichita, Kansas; great- grandchildren, Mitzi Mae Akes and Hunter James Akes; daughter-in-law, Chrisy Fritz of Garnett, Kansas and other extended family members.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:30 A.M., at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, Kansas. A Rosary will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 6:00 P.M., at the church with visitation following until 8:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 219 S. Oak St., Garnett, Kansas 66032.
