Ruby Elizabeth Davis

July 23, 1914 — January 24, 2026

Ruby Elizabeth Moore Davis passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the age of 111 in Shelbina, Missouri with her loving son by her side. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Missouri and the 24th oldest in the United States at the age of 111 years, 6 months, and 1 day. Born on July 23, 1914, to Wiley Elmer Rogers and Bertha May Cox in Coffey County, Kansas, Ruby lived her entire life in Kansas until a few years ago when she moved to Missouri to be closer to her son, Bill.

Ruby married William Alvin (Bill) Moore on June 17, 1942, and they shared 41 loving years until his death in 1983. She later remarried Clyde L. Davis the following year in 1984 until his death in 2003.

Through her years Ruby worked at Sifers Chocolate in Iola and was a homemaker. But in her own time, she was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Iola, Kansas, and volunteered at the Allen County Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross blood drives, Happy Hearts FCE Unit, and the Sunflower Quilt Guild.

Ruby's one true passion was quilting. She fell in love with it at a young age after learning the craft from her mother. That passion stayed with her throughout her life and eventually led her to become a dedicated 4-H leader. She will be remembered for her love of travel and adventure. Over the course of her life, she proudly visited all 50 US states. Ruby enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center every Friday night, attending her daily coffee groups at McDonalds thanks to Bill and Marjorie Mentzer, and making her famous chocolate angel food dessert for family events.

She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and her church community. Ruby lived life to the fullest and never let her age slow her down. She eagerly embraced adventure, enjoying motorcycle rides, hot-air balloon rides, and ziplining after the age of 100.

She is survived by her son William "Bill" (Lisa) Moore of Shelbina, Missouri; and stepson William "Bill" (Christie) Davis of Chanute, Kansas. She is also survived by a granddaughter, and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Moore and Clyde Davis; and infant daughter Isabel Ann; stepson Vernon (Bill) Moore; stepdaughters Helen Gilliland, Betty Randolph; brothers Donald and Warren Rodgers; one granddaughter and 3 great-grandsons.
