Robert Lee "Bob" Pollman, age 77, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Medicalodges in Iola.
Bob was born on October 19, 1948, to Merl H. Pollman and Mildred Doris Russell in rural Humboldt, Kansas, where he grew up and attended and graduated from Humboldt High School.
After High School, Bob joined the Navy, of which he served four years. While in the navy he was a part of the flight crew, assuring the safety of important people, some of which included Miss America.
On September 29, 1974, Bob was united in marriage to Artisha Lynn (Mosley) Pollman. This marriage was blessed with one son, David. Together, they built a life centered on hard work, family, and the simple things that mattered most. They worked together to have a strong foundation that provided the best life they could give their son, while showing him the importance of learning new skills and the reward of working hard.
Bob spent his life working in a variety of trades, including time as a bartender and a driver. He was known for his willingness to work hard and take on whatever came his way.
In his free time, Bob found peace in fishing. Whether it was a quiet day by the water or time spent sharing stories, it was something he truly enjoyed and looked forward to.
Bob was an avid member of The Elks Lodge, most recently in Iola, Kansas. He dedicated over 40 years to the hard and thoughtful work the organization would provide. You could find him serving a meal, or even dressed up for the holidays. This is where Bob, in his later years, built his strength in friendship and community service.
He will be remembered for his steady nature, his strong work ethic, and the life he built in the Iola community.
Bob is survived by his wife, Artisha Lynn Pollman; son David Pollman and significant other Michelle Shapel; two grandchildren, Easton Pollman and Rook Shapel; and sister Doris King; as well as many friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merl H. Pollman and Mildred Russell; his step-mother, Eva Mae Pollman; and 3 siblings.
