Robert Andrew Dunlap passed away on May 6, 2026 at his home.
He was born April 23, 1939 to Robert F. Dunlap and Hazel Marie (Andrews) Dunlap at St. John's Hospital in Iola.
He graduated from Iola High School in 1957 and Iola Junior College in 1959. He graduated from Wichita University in 1962 in accounting. He worked as a certified public accountant in Wichita, El Dorado, Reno, and Iola. He retired in 2021 after nearly 60 years in the profession.
While attending Iola Junior College, Andy was smitten with Yvonne Christy. They were married August 2, 1959. They had three children: Robert Christy, Douglas Matthew and Bryan Andrew.
Andy served in the Kansas National Guard from after graduation until 1964.
He was active in many service organizations (Kiwanis, Sertoma Club) as well as the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. Andy was dedicated to the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America and was active until a few years ago. He led Troop 55, helped reorganize Pack 55 and served in many district offices.
He loved music and was a member of the Iola Municipal Band, Iola Symphony, Calvary and Wesley United Methodist Choir as well as performing in several musicals.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elizabeth Foster. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Yvonne (Christy) Dunlap and sons Chris Dunlap (Jo), Doug, and Bryan (Rachelle), seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several beloved nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola, Kansas, on Friday May 15, 2026 at 10 AM. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Boy Scouts of America, the Iola Symphony, or Wesley United Methodist Church.
