Rena Sehorn, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Chanute, Kansas.
Born on August 24, 1936, in Mansfield, Arkansas, to Sam and Nell (Fuller) Hunter. Rena lived a life defined by devotion to family, service to her community, and a genuine desire to help others.
Rena met the love of her life, Bobby Sehorn, while they were in high school. They married in 1955, beginning a partnership built on love, friendship, and commitment that spanned seventy-one years. She moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Bobby worked for KG&E and Rena dedicated herself to caring for their home and growing family. In 1960, they settled in Humboldt, Kansas.
Throughout her years in Humboldt, Rena generously gave her time and talents to others. She was an active member of the annual Biblesta Parade. She was also active in the PTA while her children attended school. Rena devoted many years to coaching youth bowling at the Humboldt Bowling Alley. She loved working with children and took pride in encouraging young bowlers, helping them develop confidence, sportsmanship, and lifelong friendships. Her patience, kindness, and support left a lasting impression on many people in the community.
Rena was known for her strong work ethic and remarkable talent as a seamstress she learned from her beloved Aunt Edna. She created and altered countless garments over the years, including everyday clothing, prom dresses, and homecoming gowns. Among her greatest joys was designing and sewing beautiful wedding dresses for family members and friends. In her later years, Rena enjoyed spending time with friends at the Iola Senior Center and playing cards. Above all, Rena was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved.
Rena is survived by her loving husband, Bobby; her children, Tony, Bret, and Sheri Bunce (Larry); her grandchildren, Bridger Dyson-Smith (Katie), Mariah Dyson-Smith (Dan), Orion Dyson-Smith, Stephanie Sehorn, James Sehorn (Amee), Taylor Bunce, and Ethan Bunce; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Sadie, Silas, Margaret, George, Peter, Renslee, Timmen, and Althea. She is also survived by her brothers, Sammie Hunter (Jan), and Charles "Butch" Hunter; and her sister, Rebecca "Becky" Kay Key (Paul).
Rena will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and community.
A life well lived, a heart well loved, and a memory that will never be forgotten.
