Ralph "Chuck" Shafer

Ralph Charles "Chuck" Shafer, age 60, passed away peacefully in Iola, Kansas, on June 25, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.

Chuck was born in Iola on August 19, 1964 to Ralph and Lurleen (Cummins) Shafer. He attended local schools and graduated from Iola High School with the class of 1982. After high school, he went to work at Midland Brake until they closed. Later, Chuck helped open and operate Midwest Production Solutions (MPS) in Moran, Kansas.

Chuck was one of a kind, and had a spark like no other. He lived the life he wanted to live, and did the things he wanted to do, when he wanted to do them. This was known as "Chuck Time." Chuck was an amazing friend and was always there to lend a helping hand. He made an impact on most people that he met.

Chuck loved sports. Much of his free time was spent following his favorite sports teams: the KC Chiefs and Royals, and K-State Wildcats. In his younger years, Chuck played slow-pitch softball.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Amber Weide, and many close friends.

He is survived by children, Ralph Caston Shafer, Bayleigh Weide, and Khloeigh Shafer; siblings, Donna Diebolt, Glenda Isaacson, JoAnne Michael, Catherine (Dave) Hall, and Rhonda (Vance) Baker; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral for Chuck will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. The family requests that red and KC Chiefs be worn. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will greet friends at a visitation the evening prior to the service, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in The Venue at the funeral home.
