Patricia "Patti" A. O'Brien

October 21, 1939 — January 3, 2026

Patricia Ann O'Brien, lovingly known to most as "Patti," passed away on January 3, 2026, at Medicalodges in Iola, Kansas. Patti was born on October 21, 1939, in Emporia, Kansas, to Delia Pearl Krueger and Fredrick Christon Krueger.

On February 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Jimmy D. O'Brien. Together they shared 64 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, hard work, and devotion to family. From this union came three children: Kathy, Frederick, and Jimmy.

Patti was a woman of strength and resilience who worked tirelessly throughout her life. She held many jobs, including working in egg hatcheries, convenience stores, and later as a bank teller, where she spent many dedicated years. No matter the role, she was known for her strong work ethic and reliability.

Family was the heart of Patti's life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found the most joy in simply being with those she loved. Everything was more meaningful and more fun when family was involved.

Patti had many passions that reflected her generous and nurturing spirit. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting, and was especially known for making dolls and hats for those undergoing chemotherapy. She found peace in gardening and caring for her flowers, and took great joy in feeding and watching birds. During the holidays, she delighted in making Christmas candy for her family. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed playing cards and dice games, with cribbage and Farkle becoming her favorite games later in life. She also had a lifelong love for Mickey Mouse, which always brought a smile to her face.

She is survived by her loving children, Kathy O'Brien and Jimmy and wife Rhonda O'Brien; her brother, Richard Krueger; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a handful of great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Delia Krueger; three brothers Jim, Glen, and Chris; her son, Frederick; and one great-granddaughter Jackie.

Patti's legacy is one of quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
