Patricia McGhee

Patricia "Pat" McGhee passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, at Villa St. Francis Catholic Care Center in Olathe, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 14, 1934, in Westphalia, Kansas, to John and Helen (Legill) Hermann and was the eldest of four children.

Pat grew up in Westphalia and attended St. Teresa Grade School through the eighth grade. She then attended Westphalia High School. As natural leader, Pat served as class president all four years, starred in school plays throughout high school, cheerleader for two years, and proudly graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1952.

On November 21, 1953, Pat married her high school sweetheart, Perry L. McGhee Jr. Together, they were blessed with five children: Chris, J.D., Glenda, Lynn, and Bryan. The family lived in Westphalia until moving to Lenexa, Kansas, in 1967. Pat and Perry shared 58 years of marriage until his passing on October 21, 2011.

Following her retirement from Winning Ways Inc. in 1992, they moved to Osceola, Missouri, in 2002, and later to Warsaw, Missouri. After Perry's passing, she returned to the Olathe area and eventually made her home at Villa St. Francis. She cared deeply for her caregivers and fellow residents and treasured the friendships and sense of community she found there.

Pat had a generous and caring heart and found immense joy in caring for those around her. As a devoted Catholic, her faith and love for her family remained at the center of her life. Her family meant the world to her, and she always looked forward to family gatherings, especially Sunday dinners at her home in Lenexa, which became a cherished tradition.

Pat enjoyed canning produce from the garden she and her husband lovingly tended together. Whether sharing laughter at family card parties, camping at the lake, celebrating birthdays and holidays, watching the KC Chiefs or Royals games, or simply spending precious time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Pat treasured the memories they created together.

Preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Perry; her sister, Carolyn, and Carolyn's husband, Claron; her brother, Donald, and Donald's wife, Darlene; and her daughter-in-law, Marcia.

She is survived by her five children: Chris Boehm and husband Pete of Warsaw, Missouri; J.D. McGhee and wife Lynn of Shawnee, Kansas; Glenda Windisch and husband Paul of Overland Park, Kansas; Lynn McGhee and fiancé Lynnetta Fields of Lawrence, Kansas; and Bryan McGhee and wife Lori of Olathe, Kansas, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends who will lovingly remember her.

Pat's family will greet friends following a 6:00 PM, Rosary at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe, Kansas on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Friends may greet the family from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the church. Funeral Mass and burial are being planned for a later date at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Westphalia, Kansas. Those details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized. Memorial contributions are suggested to Villa St. Francis and may be left in the care of the funeral home.
