Pamela R. Gurwell, age 73, of Moran, passed away on January 12, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1952 to Donald and Ennis Blohm in Iola, Kansas.
Pamela was a devoted mother, grandmother, partner, and friend whose life was defined by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Pamela raised her two children while both she and her husband were fully employed, always making her children her highest priority. A true softball mom at heart, she spent countless hours supporting her children through travel ball, patching up wounds, bringing snacks, and cheering them on. Her children remember never wanting for anything and being raised with strength, resilience, and unconditional love.
Pamela was deeply committed to personal growth and obtained her skills through continued education and classes to achieve her physical therapy assistant certification through Allen County Community College. She loved her job and cherished the many people she met through her work over the years, while working at Allen County Regional Hospital
She raised her children alongside their father, Keith Gurwell. Even after their divorce, Pamela and Keith remained close, united in their love and support for their children.
Later in life, Pamela met Richard Tyler, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 2017.
Pamela was especially proud of her son, Aaron. Though his early adulthood came with struggles, she never wavered in her strength or love for him, no matter the circumstances. Aaron remembers his parents as nothing but supportive. Nothing brought Pamela more joy than witnessing Aaron turn his life around, eventually owning his own business after overcoming hardships following welding school.
Pamela adored her only granddaughter, Emily, who lovingly called her MeMaw. She treasured every moment with her and was overjoyed to attend Emily's wedding, an occasion that filled her heart with immense pride and happiness.
Pamela and her daughter Alyssa had an unbreakable bond. They walked many walks of life together, sharing a home, working side by side, and in Pamela's later years was her primary caretaker. While all of those duties come with titles, Alyssa and her mother were not only best friends, but true partners through life. They always had each other to lean on, those memories and compassion for each other was a trait that was shared between the two of them.
In her later years, Pamela deeply appreciated the care and compassion she received at Moran Manor. The family would like to especially acknowledge CNA Jessika Shephard and RN Danell Harper, whose kindness and dedication stood out and meant so much to Pamela and her loved ones.
Pamela is survived by her two children, Alyssa Gurwell of Iola, Kansas, and Aaron Gurwell and fiance Morriah Isaacs of Chanute, Kansas; her granddaughter, Emily Jones and husband Dylan of Pittsburg, Kansas; her sister, Jeanne Ulrich; her nephew, Brek Ulrich and wife Liz of Iola, Kansas; her niece, Lori Moore and husband Kris of Lawrence, Kansas; and many cherished friends and community members who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ennis (Aggers) Blohm, and her partner of ten years, Richard Tyler.
Pamela's legacy lives on through the love she gave freely, the strength she instilled in her family, and the countless lives she touched.
