Mary Lou O'Brien

Mary Lou O'Brien, age 93, of St. Paul, Kansas, passed away May 21, 2025, at home. Mary Lou was born July 30, 1931, in Elsmore, Kansas, to Harold A. Swanson and Hannah Elida (Lindstrom) Swanson.

Mary Lou graduated in 1949 from Elsmore High School. She married Robert Fronk and he passed in 1969. Mary Lou then married W.F. O'Brien, Jr. on January 25, 1974, in St. Paul. After she married Junior, she became a mother to Martha and Tim O'Brien.

Mary Lou was a beautician and farm wife. She was a lifetime member of Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg, Kansas. Her church was very important to her. In later years, Mary Lou was also a member of the St. Paul Café Prayer Breakfast Group, where the group shared and prayed for those in the community.

Mary Lou enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked gardening, going for walks, cooking, and traveling.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Fronk; second husband, W.F. O'Brien, Jr.; and brothers, Harold A. Swanson, John Edward Swanson, Dean Swanson.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Martha Clements, Tim O'Brien; grandchildren, Brooke Senkevech, Jacob (Michelle) Clements, Bristol O'Brien, London O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Adam Senkevech, Karson Clements, Zaylee Clements, Zane Clements; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to honor Mary Lou's life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg, Kansas. Inurnment will immediately follow in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, Savonburg.
