Margaret Cunningham

Margaret R. Cunningham, age 75, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas.

Margaret was born on June 15, 1950, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of August Herman and Mary Catherine (Jockman) Lickteig. She was the ninth of ten children. Margaret graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1968 and later completed cosmetology school in Pittsburg, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Ronald Francis Cunningham, and they shared thirty-two years of marriage until Ron's passing in 2012. Margaret was a devoted mother to her two children, Colleen and Casey, whom she often described as her greatest blessings.

Throughout her life, Margaret had a deep passion for painting, music, and puzzles. She found great joy in these creative outlets, but her greatest love was always reserved for her children and her family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Cunningham; her parents, Gus and Mary Lickteig; three brothers, Glen Lickteig, Marvin Lickteig, and Harley Lickteig; one sister, Carmen Holmes; two brothers-in-law, Joe Mader and Dale Holmes; and one sister-in-law, Doris Lickteig.

She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Schremmer and her husband Mark; and her son, Casey Cunningham, all of Kansas City. She is also survived by three brothers and their wives, Cecil and Dorothy Lickteig, Eugene and Stacey Lickteig, and Roy and Joyce Lickteig; two sisters, Julie Mader and Oralee O'Brien; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Lickteig and Beryl Lickteig; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Scipio, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday evening at St. Boniface Catholic Church, followed by visitation from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
