Mardetta Butts

Mardetta Katherine Butts, age 70, of Piqua, Kansas, passed away August 16, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi - St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Mardetta was born March 8, 1954, in Iola, Kansas, to Lewis E. Heckman and Janice M. (Kress) Heckman.

Mardetta attended school in Yates Center. She and George R. Butts were united in marriage on July 29, 1972, in Piqua, Kansas.

Mardetta worked as a caregiver in home health and for her brother, Earl Heckman, for fourteen years at his tavern in Piqua.

Mardetta enjoyed doing home crafts.

Mardetta was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Heckman; and sister, Coletta McNeil.

Mardetta is survived by her husband, George, of the home; nieces, Kathy West, Cindy Butts, Cheryl Folsom, Rebecca Abalos; and brother-in-law, Lowell Butts.

Cremation will take place and no services are planned.

Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
