Marcella Anne Trostle

Marcella Anne Trostle passed away October 17, 2023, in Iola, Kansas. She was 88 years old.

Marcella was born on January 25, 1935, to William and Edna (Bonner) Houston in LeRoy, Kansas. She had 4 sisters, Patsy, Barbara, Judith and Billie Rae. Marcella graduated from LeRoy High School in 1952.

In 1953, Marcella was married to Robert Varvel. This union was blessed with 3 children, Roberta, Nina, and Dewayne. They later divorced. She married Dee Trostle in 1993, and was blessed with 2 stepsons, Kerry and Calvin Trostle. Through the years, Marcella's family grew to add many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

Marcella was actively involved in farming her whole life. She and her husband, Dee, attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Yates Center, Kansas. She attended the Christian church in LeRoy after Dee's passing. Marcella and Dee enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and being with their children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick smile and loving personality. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Houston; husband, Dee Trostle; sisters, Judith Petty and Billie Rae Gildart; brothers-in-law, Lester Petty and Neil Gildart; and son-in-law, Charles Johnson.

Marcella is survived by her children, Roberta Johnson of Iola, Kansas, Nina (Kenneth) Grant of LeRoy, Kansas, and Dewayne (Kaye) Varvel of Owensboro, Kentucky; stepsons, Kerry (Jerilee) Trostle of LeRoy, Kansas, and Calvin (Beth) Trostle of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Johnson, Linette (Paul) Burton, Kristina (Jonathan) Palmer, Robert (Annette) Grant, Joanne (Gardner) Kempthorne, Gina Thomas, Byron (Megan) Varvel, Kalea (Mason) Noffsinger, Kim McDaniel (Brian), Josh Cox (Danielle), Victoria Trostle, Hannah Trostle, Elida Trostle, Rori (Jonathan) Salava, Katie (Aaron) Burris, and Beau (Lindsay) Beyer; great-grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Gabriella Cochran, Amelia Burton, Isaac Burton, Logan Palmer, Mason Palmer, Tristina Smith, Adah Kempthorne, Kevin Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Holly Thomas, and Sophie Varvel; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey (Smith) Simons.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, just prior to the funeral service. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
