Gene Vincent, 87, of Colony, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at his home.

Lloyd Eugene Vincent was born August 22, 1938, in Elsmore, Kansas. He was the second of two children born to Robert and Alma M. (Jackson) Vincent. After graduating from LaHarpe High School in 1956, Gene served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. His service took him to Italy, where he was stationed and where his son, Rickie, was born.

Following his military service, Gene dedicated 39 years to a career with Mack C. Colt, Inc. He held a deep appreciation for his time in the oilfield and often enjoyed sharing memories and knowledge of those days with others.

He married his beloved wife, Bonnie, on March 6, 1960 and they shared 63 years of life and love together, residing in the Colony area for over 60 years.

Gene was a true pillar of the community. Known to many local kids as "Papa Gene," he was a familiar face at high school sporting events and was deeply honored to stand as "grandpa" in the weddings of several young men in town. As a connector who brought people of all ages and backgrounds together, his shop served as the site for countless gatherings and celebrations. Whether he was volunteering with the Colony Fire Department or enjoying his hobbies of quail hunting and fishing, Gene fostered a sense of belonging for everyone he met. He cherished his friendships with people of all ages, from 5 to 95. In recent years, Gene found companionship with his dear friend, Ruth Smart.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie on January 7, 2023; son, Rick Vincent on January 11, 2023; and sister, Maxine Jackson on November 20, 2022.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Huffman and husband, Paul of Weatherford, Texas; daughter in law, Lesley of Bixby, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Nick Vincent, Morgan Tracy, Jacob Huffman, Ami Faughender, and Danielle Rodriguez; and sister in law, Linda Sweany.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. Gene's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening, June 18, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crest High School Trap Shooting Team and left in care of the funeral home. Condolences for the family may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
