Leon Hirt

Leon Frank Hirt, age 88, of Garnett, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

He was born on May 11, 1937, in Westphalia, Kansas, the son of Frank and Ellen (Altic) Hirt.

Leon was united in marriage to Anna Mae Jamison on September 12, 1959 in Quinter, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Mae Hirt; and sister, Paulene Yeager.

He is survived by his wife, Loriene Roberts Hirt; children; two sons, Ronnie Hirt of Westphalia, Kansas; Devin Hirt and wife Becky of Amboy, Indiana; one daughter, Carla Kuns and husband David of Rathdrum, Idaho; nine grandchildren; Gavin Kuns and wife Mandy; Shannon Root and husband Benjamin; Brennan Gassaway and husband Dustan; Michaelyn Clark and husband Nate; Nathan Hirt and wife Emily; Caitlin Newell and husband Shane; Roxanna Reed and husband Ian; Zackary Hirt; Blaine Hirt; and fifteen great grandchildren.

Dad was baptized as a teenager, and loved the Lord until his death. Dad loved the outdoors, farming and his Allis Chalmers tractors. Dad spent many hours tending his fruit trees and working in the garden. Dad was always willing to share and lend a helping hand, whether it be for family or friends. He loved to fish and have fish frys with the family. Dad never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with his many friends in the community. As the years pass us by, our bodies grow weary and Dad's was no exception. The Lord called and Dad answered. Bless the name of the Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Garnett Church of the Nazarene in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Westphalia, Kansas. Leon's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
