Larry Russell Brutchin, age 84, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on April 7, 2026, at his home.

Larry was born on May 28, 1941, in Grandview, Arkansas, to Orloff and Dorothy (Veal) Brutchin. When he was just two years old, his family moved from Arkansas, to LeRoy, Kansas, following family ties that rooted them in the community.

Larry served his country honorably in the United States Navy, including service during the Vietnam era from 1961 to 1965. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger and was a member of Aircraft Squadron VA-94.

He and Barbara Eccles were married in 1969, and blessed with two children, Jarred and Jacey, They were later divorced.

He was a man of few words, known for his steady presence and kind nature. Larry was a traditional father figure who provided for his family and led by example. He was a sweet man who carried a quiet strength.

Larry worked as a machinist in various industries. He retired from Haldex in 2003. Outside of work, he enjoyed a simple and fulfilling life. Hunting, fishing, and gardening were among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball.

Larry met Debbie (Tarter) Kinney while working at Haldex. They spent several years together before their marriage on October 3, 2003. From this marriage, Larry gained four bonus children, Mike, Travis, Chad and Curtis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters Caryolyn Giglio and Marsha Elliott.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Brutchin, of the home; Two Children, Jarred and wife Tonya Brutchin, and Jacey and husband Steve Heady; four bonus children, Mike and wife Vicki Brooks, Travis Brooks, Chad and wife Monica Brooks, Curtis and wife Erika Kinney; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Highland Cemetery,

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry's honor be made to Southern Coffey County High School Honor Flight, and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
