Kenneth E. Setter, age 87, of Belton, Missouri, passed from labor to refreshment on Friday, February 6, 2026, at his home.

Kenny was born February 10, 1938, in Iola, Kansas, the fourth of six children born to Ed and Rose Setter. He was a proud alumnus of St. John Catholic School and Greeley High School, graduating with the Class of 1956. During his youth, Kenny was an active athlete, playing basketball for St. John's and Greeley High School Wildcats.

On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1960, Kenny was united in marriage to Barbara Jan Strobel at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. They were blessed with five children and shared fifty-seven years of marriage until Barbara's passing in 2018. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, for many years, specifically in the Western Hills neighborhood, before later moving to Belton.

Kenny was a talented mechanic who possessed the rare ability to fix anything from an airplane to a household can opener. He dedicated over thirty years of his career to Gunther Service and Supply. Earlier in his life, he worked for TWA, and he eventually finished his career with AES Lawnparts.

His Catholic faith was the source of his quiet strength, and he was a man of deep devotion who attended Mass daily. Kenny was committed to passing this faith on to his children, often working two jobs to ensure all five were able to attend Catholic grade schools and high schools. As a longtime member of Christ the King Parish in Kansas City, he was heavily involved in parish life, attending daily Mass, coaching his children's basketball games, and serving as an active member of the Booster Club. Kenny was also a dedicated 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus for over seventy years. Kenny did his best to make it to as many of his grandchildren's activities as he could. They all loved it when Grandpa made it to their events.

Kenny and Barbara remained deeply connected to their roots, valuing the lifelong friendships they made in the Greeley and Scipio areas. They attended alumni events every year and enjoyed traveling, going to the movies, and dining out with their many friends from their hometowns, their parish, and the Western Hills community.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Rose Setter, and his beloved wife, Barbara Jan Setter, on July 27, 2018; brother, Fred Setter; and sister, Rosemary Miller.

He is survived by his five children, Lori Setter, Jerry Setter and wife Cindy, Janel Setter, Michelle Beets and husband Greg, and Amy Coleman and husband Dan. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, Nick Lancaster-Slick, Kaitlyn Beets, Abigail Dugan and husband, Ryan, Cole Setter, Anna Setter, Henry Beets, Andrew Beets, Mary Coleman, and Elizabeth Coleman; one great-grandson, Benjamin Nebeker. Kenny is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Ruth Wittry, Tom Setter and wife, Janice, and Judy Larkey and husband, Elmer; brother in law, John Strobel and wife, Cheryl, and sister in law, Cathy Kratzberg; and extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
