Judith Ann Bishop-Slife, age 71, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 30, 2026 at home.

Judith was born on May 7, 1955, to Chester L. Bishop and Doris Jane Bishop, in Iola, Kansas. Judith was one of three siblings, Judith being the youngest.

Judith was a graduate of Iola High School. She was known throughout her life for being stubborn, outspoken, and having a spirited personality. Judith was a bit of a wild child in her younger years and was never afraid of an adventure. At the age of 16, she hitchhiked to Florida, beginning a lifetime filled with stories and experiences that reflected her independent spirit. No matter where life took her, however, Judith always knew that Kansas was home.

Judith later married Kenneth Slife, the love of her life, and cherished the life they built together. She loved her family deeply and held them close to her heart. She was known as Grandma Judy, to not only family but many friends too.

She also had an incredible love for animals and believed in loving and caring for them no matter what. Her beloved cat, Izzie, held a special place in her heart.

Judith enjoyed a long career with Gates, where she worked in receiving. Outside of work, she enjoyed gardening and caring for her plants. She had a talent for baking and cooking and will be especially remembered for her cinnamon rolls and enchiladas.

Judith enjoyed hunting for treasures at flea markets and collecting decorative roosters. She also loved Barkdoll pencil-drawn pictures and appreciated the character and beauty they brought to her home.

In recent years, Judith enjoyed keeping up with her friends and loved ones through Facebook. She enjoyed quiet, peaceful evenings, especially going out for a good dinner and ending the night with a glass of whiskey. She also enjoyed comedy and could often be found watching comedians such as Jeff Dunham.

Judith will be remembered for her strong will, outspoken nature, adventurous spirit, and, most importantly, the tremendous love she had for her family and animals.
