Jerold James Jensen, age 75, of Garnett, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at St. Luke's Plaza Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jerry was born on July 2, 1949, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, the cherished son of Chris Walter and Erma Olena (Morton) Jensen. His early life in Phillipsburg laid the foundation for the hardworking man he would become.
In 1972, Jerry was united in marriage with Donna Stroup, and their union was blessed with three children. Though they later divorced, Jerry found love again and married Barbara Fagg on August 5, 1977. Together, they shared 35 wonderful years. Barbara passed in 2012. Jerry enjoyed his remaining years with Sandy Powers.
Jerry dedicated his life to construction, spending many fulfilling years with Beachner Construction. While building bridges for Beachner, Jerry formed a connection with Terry Zook as they started out as coworkers and ended up being long time friends. However, in Jerry's own words "some of the best years were when he and his best friend, Roger Adams, were in business together". Beyond his work, Jerry found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to tinker with his beloved John Deere tractors, often embarking on numerous tractor rides that brought him great contentment. Watching old Western movies was a favorite pastime, but nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Erma Jensen; his wife, Barbara Jensen; his infant daughter, Corinne, in 1972; his son, Jerry, in 1995; his stepson, Tim Fagg; and six brothers: Frankie, Ray, Robert, Larry, Wallace, and Walter. Their memories remained close to his heart.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Christina Chandler and her husband Joe; his stepchildren, Terry, Thomas, and Tina; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Jerry also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
