Jeanine Zentner, age 94, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Parkview Heights in Garnett, Kansas.
Jeanine Delores Henry was born on February 13, 1931, in Garnett, Kansas, the eldest of three daughters born to Robert and Elsie (Wood) Henry. The family moved around during her pre-school days, among these places being Fort Scott, Kansas, where her sister Kay was born and Pleasanton, Kansas, where her sister Twyla was born. Her grade school years were spent at Barnes school, a large country school near where Worlds of Fun is now located. Following her graduation from 8th grade, the family returned to Garnett, where she lived the remainder of her life.
While in High School, she was active in many music groups and continued her interest in music through the years. During these years, she worked at Spradlin's Drug Store, Coker's Variety Store, as well as the Medical Center as secretary to Dr. Ralph White. She met the love of her life, George Zentner, during her Freshman year and they dated the rest of her school years.
On August 19, 1950, she and George were married and they had 68 years together. They were greatly blessed with three children - Michael Eugene, Rebecca Jo, and Sharon Kay. From these three grew a large loving family.
In 1951, George became part of the occupation forces stationed in Germany, missing the first two years of their son Mike's life. After returning they completed their family. When their children were all in school, Jeanine went to work as secretary at the First Christian Church, remaining there at various times until retiring at age 75. While there, she taught herself to play the organ, being church organist for many years, plus playing for numerous weddings and funerals throughout the general area.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; her sisters, Kay and Twyla; and her parents, as well as other family members.
Jeanine is survived by her children, son, Mike (Sue) Zentner; daughters, Becky (Tom) Blaufuss, Sharon (John) Pruett; plus 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. They were all her pride and joy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, at First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Jeanine's family will greet friends Friday evening, July 11th, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett.
