Janice Lynn Carroll (Sigg), age 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 21, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System.

She was born on May 9, 1956, in El Paso, Texas, to Don Sigg and Patsy (Weeks) McGowan. Janice was raised in Iola, where she spent her childhood and graduated from Iola High School with the Class of 1974. Prior to high school, she attended Catholic school through the seventh grade before transferring to Iola Junior High School.

After high school, Janice married Kyle Potter on November 22, 1975, and together they welcomed two children, Daniel and Kristi. She later married Mark Carroll on August 9, 1984, in Lovington, New Mexico. Janice devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, caring deeply for her family and creating a home filled with love, good food, and laughter.

Janice was a true free spirit with a gypsy soul, someone who never knew a stranger and could make anyone feel welcomed with her kind heart and warm smile. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, like sitting on the front porch listening to her favorite music, cooking for the people she loved, and spending cherished time with her children and grandchildren. Most recently, she moved closer to her kids, and grandkids so that they could spend more time with their Gaga.

Gaga's laugh was one that could instantly be recognized by anyone in the room, a reflection of the way she lived her life and the belief she carried with her always, that "Laughter is the best medicine." Gaga was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, chicken and rice, and caramel brownies. Making food for others was one of Gaga's greatest expressions of love and generosity.

She will be remembered as a caring loving soul with a big heart, who loved her family, her music, watching the birds, and all simple things.

She is preceded in death by her parents Don Sigg and Patsy Weeks McGowan; her brother Dennis Sigg; as well as Mark Carroll and Kyle Potter.

She is survived by her two children, Daniel and wife Rebekah Potter, and Kristi Holland; four grandchildren, Wyatt and Khloe Holland, and Lincoln and Lawson Potter; two brothers, Donnie Joe Sigg and Scott Sigg; she will be missed by numerous friends and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
