Janet M. Thacker, age 65, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at her home.
She was born on July 13, 1954, in Alexandria, Virginia, the daughter, Tom and Wilma (Vinson) White. Janet graduated from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia.
Janet married Andy Thacker on December 19, 1976, in Alexandria, Virginia, this union was blessed with two children. They moved to Kansas in 1981 and made their home in Garnett. Janet retired from Southern Star Gas Pipeline in 2007.
She enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo at local halls. Janet loved outdoor activities, including fishing and especially watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed watching the K.C. Chiefs and Royals play.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Wilma White and one brother, Kelly White.
Janet is survived by her husband, Andy Thacker, of the home; two children, Angie Rues and husband Jarod of Garnett, Kansas; Willy Thacker of Garnett, Kansas; three grandchildren, A.J. and Tarin Rues, of Garnett, Kansas and Zoie Gilliland of Paola, Kansas; one step-son, Kevin Thacker of Fredericksburg, Virginia and his children, Katelyn and Courtney; one sister, Beverly Unkle and husband Dave of Locust Grove, Virginia; one brother, Tommy White of Tampa, Florida.
She had a feisty personality that was loved by all and behind all of that, a huge loving heart. Janet will be missed by all.
Private family services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Janet Thacker Memorial Fund, to be established at a later date.
