Irvin B. Schannauer, 75, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 9 AM surrounded by loving family.
Affectionately nicknamed Bovie, meaning "Little One" in Pennsylvania Dutch, he was the youngest of 11 children born in Reinholds, PA to the late Irvin and Mamie Schannauer (Bard). He graduated in 1967 from Ephrata High School and went on to start his own plumbing business in Reinholds.
In 1979 he moved to Dayton, Texas where he worked as a supervisor in an oil refinery. In the 80's, he started and sold his family-run company, Lone Star Potato Chips.
He moved back to Denver, PA in 1987 where he worked as a contractual pipe fitter until his retirement in 2011. In 2018 he moved to Iola, Kansas with his wife, Mitzi.
He was a charismatic and hardworking man, dedicated to his family, as well as a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, watching old westerns, and flipping houses.
Surviving are his wife Mitzi Beck, Iola, Kansas; two sons, Gary Schannauer, May's Landing, NJ, and Mark Schannauer, Coon Rapids, MN; 5 grandchildren, Casey Schannauer, Kayla Schannauer, Shayna Schannauer, Shandon Schannauer, all of MN, and Aleena Schannauer, VA; 4 great-grandchildren, Vera Schannauer, Ellie Schannauer, Bryn Kuecker, and Callum Schannauer; two sisters, Shirley Showalter, and Anna Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
