Irene Leola Clark, age 80, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on May 27, 2026.
Irene was born on July 22, 1945, in Buffalo, Kansas, to Raymond and Elaine (Laude) Hardin. She grew up in southeast Kansas and graduated from Altoona Midway High School in 1964. Later she attended cosmetology school in Independence, Kansas, where she developed her passion for helping others feel their best.
Throughout her life, Irene was known for her caring heart and willingness to help anyone in need. While she was primarily a homemaker devoted to her family, she also worked as a hairdresser in a salon she owned in Humboldt, cleaner, and in many other roles whenever there was a need. Her hardworking nature touched many lives over the years.
She was also a longtime member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, Kansas. She was devout in her faith, and would even be seen greeting her church friends and family prior to mass.
She married Homer Ashley on September 30, 1967. This marriage was blessed with one child, Michelle.
She later married Alvin Clark on December 26, 1988. Together they shared many years of companionship, memories, and love.
She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Elane Hardin; her first husband Homer; grandson Skyler Clark Jr.; Great-grandson Brayden Berthot.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years Alvin Clark; Daughter Michelle Hole; Step Children Skylar and wife Gladys Clark, Nathan and wife Cindy Clark, Ladonna Clark and partner Eddie Davis; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Irene will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
Memorials in her honor may be made to ACARF or St. John's Catholic Church and left in the care of the funeral home.
