Guy Ellis

Guy Ellis, age 85, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas.

Guy Richard Ellis was born on July 18, 1940, in Garnett, the first of ten children born to Oliver "Bill" and Lois M. (Shepard) Ellis. He grew up in Colony, Kansas, and graduated from Colony High School with the class of 1958.

On June 13, 1971, Guy was united in marriage to Linda A. Barnett in Colony, Kansas. Guy spent forty-nine years as a professional truck driver, hauling livestock, grain, and milk. Known to many on the road by his CB handle, "Lightfoot," his career included time with Barnett Trucking, Mace Trucking, Foltz Trucking, Henderson Trucking, Foote Cattle Company, Donahue Trucking, Kissner Trucking, and Trans Am Trucking. He concluded his time on the road as a truck driver for Franklin County Public Works, retiring after 10 years.

Guy found great enjoyment in the quiet routines of life. He liked pulling ponies and big draft horses when he had the chance, and he took pride in keeping a tidy property, especially when it came to mowing the yard and picking up walnuts. More than anything, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois Ellis; three brothers, Jerry, Randy, and Rick Ellis; two sisters, Sheila Mann and Lesa Sherwood; and a nephew, Terry Ellis.

Guy is survived by his wife, Linda Ellis, of the home; his children, Kim Markley and husband Shawn of Ottawa, Kansas, Chad Ellis of Harris, Kansas, and Corey Ellis and wife Lynsey of Williamsburg, Kansas; and his five grandchildren, Drake and Mya Markley, Bentley and Kinsley Ellis, and Breyer Ellis. He is also survived by his three brothers and one sister, Jack Ellis and wife Marilyn of Humboldt, Kansas, Rex Ellis and wife Loretta of Iola, Kansas, Ron Ellis and wife Debbie of LeRoy, Kansas, and Patsey Baker and husband Doyle of Olathe, Kansas, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Garnett. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
