Glynda Ruth Powe, 88, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the home of Matt and Gina Powe.
Glynda was born on January 12, 1937, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to Albert and Adalee Tucker. She and her husband, David Jackson, moved to Eureka, Kansas, in December 1953 from Oklahoma. Three daughters were born of this union, which later ended in divorce.
On January 14, 1972, she was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Powe. They had one son, Matthew. Glynda and Bob always had a large garden on their farm near Piedmont, Kansas, and she spent many hours every summer canning vegetables and taking care of their spacious yard. She enjoyed any outdoor activity and was also an avid reader. She cherished family get-togethers around the holidays, and everyone knew to stay out of the kitchen when she was cooking!
After retirement, she and Bob spent several years traveling across the country in their fifth wheel. They also enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals during this time. Glynda was a member of the First Christian Church of Iola, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; her daughter, Kimberly; step-daughter, Sharon; step-sons, John and Ronald; and one step-grandson, Ted.
Glynda is survived by her two daughters, Paula Milner and Tony of Emporia, Kansas, and Sherry Trevino of Corpus Christi, Texas; and one son, Matthew Powe and Gina of Colony, Kansas. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
