Marilyn Ulery

Gloria Marilyn Ulery, age 70, of Gas, Kansas, passed away March 16, 2024, in Chanute, Kansas. Marilyn was born December 26, 1953, in Yates Center, Kansas, to Jack Reed and Dorothy (Ralston) Reed.

Marilyn and Charles W. Ulery were married January 11, 1973, in Erie, Kansas. They raised two daughters, Trena and Tammy, and helped raise two grandchildren, Charles and Kaitlyn.

Marilyn worked numerous jobs, including Miller's sewing factory, Country Mart bakery, Super 8 Motel, and Gates Rubber Company before retiring.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with grandkids and best friend, Sue Shaw. She liked to take mini-vacations, or an escape for the weekend, where she would take the grandkids to flea markets, museums, and zoos. As the grandkids got older, she liked to go to casinos with them and her best friend, Sue. Marilyn loved baby-setting her grand dog, Luna.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Ulery; daughter, Trena Ulery; and siblings, John Reed, Bill Reed, Virgie Bland, Millie Scantlin.

Marilyn is survived by daughter, Tammy Ulery; grandchildren, Charles (Aubrey) Ulery, Trevor (Sydney) Hawley, Kaitlyn Larson; great-grandchildren, Emma Hawley, River Hawley; siblings, Phyllis (Art) Hobbs, Margaret (Larry) Anderson, Jackie (Billy) Yocham, Rick Reed, Sarah (Roger) Womelsdorf, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A private family inurnment will be at a later time in the Gas Cemetery, Gas, Kansas.
