Euleta Porter

June 16, 1949 — July 11, 2025

Euleta M. Porter, age 76, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Euleta Marie Steele was born on June 16, 1949, in Garnett, Kansas, the fourth of twelve children to Melvin and Berneice (Pickert) Steele. She graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1967. Euleta was a truly wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, caregiver, friend, and neighbor to many. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild this fall.

On May 25, 1968, Euleta was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Ross W. Porter. Their loving union was blessed with three children: Brian, Curt, and Kim. Euleta's greatest passion was her family and the farm. She was a vital part of the farm operation, diligently preparing field meals, filling water jugs, and ensuring everyone got where they needed to be. Euleta took immense pride in meticulously mowing her yard and maintaining her beautiful flower beds. She absolutely adored spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren, always making an effort to attend as many of their events as possible. A visit to "Grandma Lety's" was always guaranteed to include an ice cream treat from the freezer in the garage, and she later extended these treats to her beloved "granddogs." Euleta cherished planning large family gatherings, including the annual hog roast, Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving at her home. She loved counting the final headcount for these events and was exceptionally proud when the numbers exceeded 100 guests. Family events simply won't be the same without her famous homemade potato salad or her delicious Jell-O poke cake.

Euleta was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Berneice Steele; two brothers-in-law, Randy Johns and Lonnie Chase; and one grandson, Zander Porter.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 57 years, Ross Porter; her children, Brian and Toni Porter, Curt and Jamie Porter of Garnett, and Kim and Brian Glaves of Overland Park, Kansas; her 11 grandchildren: Kendra, Paige, Tayler, Tyler, Emma, Ryland, Walker, Isaak, Noah, Addison, and Porter; and her six brothers and five sisters: John and Linda Steele, Ray and Shirley Steele, Martha Chase, Glen and Cathy Steele, Gary and Cindy Steele, Marilyn Steele and Ed Hoffman, Eileen and Tom Tucker, Rita and Jim Mechnig, Elmer and Karine Steele, Robert and Jodi Steele, and Jane and Chet Lee.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church. Private family burial will be in the Glenloch Cemetery. Euleta's family will greet friends at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas from 6:00-8:00 PM, on Tuesday evening.
