E.S. Robb of Iola died Monday, December 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 92 years old.
The oldest child of Eugene Samuel Robb and Esther Mabel (Sutterby) Robb, he was born October 21, 1933, in Xenia, Kansas. The family moved to Neosho Falls, Moran, and then finally to Iola, where he attended all the schools in the district - McKinley, Lincoln, Jr High, Sr High and Iola Jr College.
Boy Scouts, football, fishing, hunting and woodworking were all great activities, but working in a machine shop was his desire. After graduation he took a year off school to work in machine shops in the Wichita area. He then returned to Iola in 1952 to attend Iola Jr College and graduated in 1954.
E.S. was drafted into the military in the fall of 1954 and he spent 2 years with the US Army Corp of Engineers. During his tour of service he married Patricia Faye Marple on July 13, 1955, and they were blessed with two sons.
He was employed by Durite Corporation until 1964 and then H.L. Miller and Son until 1969. At that time he purchased the McCary/Brooks Blacksmith and Machine Shop and established General Repair & Supply, which is still in business today.
E.S. was saved at a young age and baptized by Rev. Taylor. He loved the Lord and served him all of his life. He was a life long member of the Iola Baptist Temple, serving as Sunday School teacher, bus route driver, trustee and "temporary" song leader for over 30 years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Wayne, John, Roger; sister, Colleen Pearman; his wife, Patricia of 36 years, and his wife, Wanda.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Joanie of the home; two sons, Rick and wife Becky of Iola, Chris and wife Karen of Lenexa; brother Carl Robb and wife Sandy of Iola; brother-in-law, Gerald Pearman of Colony; four grandchildren, J.D. Robb and wife Erika of Topeka, Kate Trego and husband Jason of Iola, Anna Hoeppner and husband Brian of North Kansas City, Missouri, Kirsten Robb of Overland Park; three great-grandchildren, Molly Trego, Elvert (Al) and Franklin Robb.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service wiil be Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. Pastor Chadd Lemaster will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Iola Baptist Temple Church and may be sent to the church or the funeral home.
