Our mother, Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Armer, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024.
Liz was born to Orland and Louise (Lockridge) Chamberlain on June 15, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the youngest of three girls.
On August 27, 1951, Liz married the love of her life, George Neil Armer. They eloped when Mom was only sixteen years old, in Huntsville, Arkansas. "Queen Liz" and "St. George" were married for 49 years. Their union was blessed with daughters, Debbie, Shellie, and Carla.
Mom purchased and ran the Klothes Kloset for 25 years before becoming an agent for Modern Woodman. Liz enjoyed golfing, traveling, and her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and wittiness. Mom acquired many nicknames, including "The General," "Lizard," "Mommy Dearest," "Grandma Armer," "Mom," and "Queen Elizabeth."
Liz was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, George; sisters, Barbara and Wilma; son-in-law, Glen Oberley; and granddaughter, Becky Day.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie (Larry) Day of Salina, Shellie (Steve) Eisenbart of La Harpe, and Carla (Dan) Welsh of McGregor, Texas. Liz was blessed with grandchildren, Corey Hinton, Jonathan Day, Joshua Oberley, Jana Oberley, Jessica Hutton, Nicole Joy, Ryan Welsh, and Darci Welsh. She also had 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Services, 1883 US Highway 54 in Iola. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Uniontown Cemetery.
Memorials may be left to the Uniontown Cemetery or Wesley United Methodist Church, and may be left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas, 66749.
