Donna J. Powell

Donna Jean Powell, 86, of Colony, Kansas, passed away surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1939, in Lone Elm, Kansas, to Chester and Evelyn Wedeman.

Donna spent her early years in Lone Elm before making her lifelong home in Colony. On April 12, 1960, she married the love of her life, Cecil Powell. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community, sharing many wonderful years together.

Donna was a woman of many talents and creative gifts. She found great joy in sewing, painting, woodworking, and creating ceramics. She even owned and operated a ceramic shop, where she shared her artistic talents with others. Her creativity and hardworking spirit were evident in everything she did.

Throughout her working years, Donna held several jobs in Iola, with her longest employment at TG&Y, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She was also a faithful member of Colony Christian Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

Donna cherished time spent with her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and treasured great-grandmother. Her kindness, creativity, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Evelyn Wedeman; her sisters, Zola Summers and Zona Wiley; and the love of her life, her husband, Cecil Powell.

Donna is lovingly survived by her sons, Mitch Powell and his wife, Nancy, and Wayne Powell and his wife, Cindy; three grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Donna's legacy of love, faith, hard work, and creativity will continue to live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered with love and gratitude forever.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at Geneva Cemetery, Colony, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Meadows Activity fund, Iola, Kansas and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
