Don Oldenburg, age 66, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday morning, May 3, 2026, at his home.
Donald Charles Oldenburg was born on February 22, 1960, in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Alvin Charles and Margeory C. (Somerville) Oldenburg. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from high school in Whitmore Lake with the class of 1978. On March 17, 1983, Don was united in marriage to Pamela Kay Haag in Howell, Michigan, their union was blessed with one daughter, Ashley and son, Eric.
A proud and highly skilled machinist, Don worked as a manager in tool and die and automotive part manufacturing. In addition to his full time job, Don owned and operated Ashley's Limousine in Michigan and Alternative Heating Solutions while he lived in Michigan and Kansas. He moved to Kansas in 2006, residing in Olathe and Spring Hill before settling in Garnett. Don was a man's man who was hard but fair. He lived in a rules-based world and you were either a plus or a minus. He was a protector and provider who consistently put his family before himself. Don believed there was nothing he couldn't do; if he didn't know how to do something, he would learn it. He even taught himself electrical wiring because he wanted to personally handle the wiring for an addition to his home.
Don was a passionate deer hunter and a staunch advocate for the Second Amendment. He loved being outdoors and took his family on many vacations when his children were young. He was dedicated to his family and wanted to ensure that they were taken care of.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Oldenburg and his step father, Raymond R. Winters.
Don is survived by his wife, Pamela Oldenburg; one daughter, Ashley Oldenburg-Goff and husband Chad; one son, Eric Hall; three grandchildren, Kaydon Oldenburg-Goff, Audrey Goff, and Logan Goff; one great grandson, Rowan Oldenburg; his mother, Margeory C. Winters; three sisters, Cathy Toma, Linda Baumgardner and husband Jeff, and Kathy Turner; one brother, Robert Oldenburg; and many nieces and nephews.
