Donald Wayne Barnes, age 88, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri.

Donald was born on August 28, 1937, in Iola, Kansas, to Vernon and Alice (Madison) Barnes. He graduated from high school and later worked in the retail grocery industry.

Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delia Barnes; his parents; sisters Verna Jean and Joyce; and nephew Dennis Yocham.

He is survived by his daughter, Dawna Louann Barnes; grandsons, Derick Combes and Trevor Barnes; nephews, Martin Yocham, Darrell Yocham, and Kieth Yocham; nieces, Allison Dye and Regina Dye; sisters-in-law, Karen Trester, Glenda Bruner, and brother-in-law, Mike Bruner.

Friends and family are invited to The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Feuerborn Family Funeral Service to help with funeral expenses.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:00 am where family will greet friends in The Venue, 1883 US HWY54, Iola, Kansas 66749.

Inurnment will take place privately later on, at Highland Cemetery in Allen County, Iola, Kansas.
