Dolores Marie Hoff, 78, passed peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the Medicalodges in Iola, Kansas. Dolores was born on August 6, 1947, to Herbert W. and Rose (Leiker) Hoff in Great Bend, Kansas. She was the third child of four. Her early childhood was spent in Chase, Kansas, and then Claflin, Kansas. Dolores attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School through the 8th grade and graduated from Claflin High School in 1965. She was in the band and other activities and enjoyed music. Dolores went on to attend Kansas State University from 1965 through 1970 earning a degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Clothing Design and Marketing.
Dolores then moved to Iola, Kansas, in 1970 and was employed by The H. L. Miller Manufacturing Company of Iola. During her 30-year career her responsibilities included dress design, pattern making, fabric selection and traveling throughout the United States attending markets and shows. Dolores was on the board of directors for the Iola Community Theater, and she was very active in directing and helped assist direct numerous plays and productions. She was involved in costume design, designing sets, and production. She sang in several congregational choirs as well as played the guitar. Later in life Dolores assisted community folks with their sewing, doing alterations, repair, and fittings. She also loved to cook and share her dishes with others. She enjoyed her arts and crafts projects, often making them as gifts. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola.
Everyone who knew Dolores knew she loved her dogs. Her dogs were her family. She had four dogs, Peppy, Snow, Angel, and Saddie. She would tell you she had four and a half and laugh. The half was a friend's dog who spent a lot of time with her. Dolores will be missed. We love you, sister.
She was predeceased by her parents and older brother Herbert A. Hoff and his wife Jane (Weber) Hoff. She is survived by sister Annette Bourne and husband Gene of Ellsworth, Kansas, and brother Stephen Hoff and wife Carol of Laramie, Wyoming. She has a niece and four nephews and eight great-nieces.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Iola, Kansas, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery, 906 East Eighth Street, Ellsworth, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Catholic Church or Allen Community College Theater Department or Gentiva Hospice, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
