DeDe Lynn Hammer

DeDe Lynn Hammer, age 54, passed away on January 2, 2024, at her home in Colony, Kansas.

DeDe was born on July 2, 1969, in Kansas City, Kansas. Her parents, Orville Lavon Hammer and Patricia Lynn (Cochran) Hammer brought her home to Iola, Kansas. DeDe attended school in the area and after graduating, attended Mary Grimes School of Nursing, where she received her Registered Nursing license, graduating at the top of her class.

DeDe put her nursing education to use as an RN in various nursing homes across Southeast Kansas. She greatly enjoyed working with the elderly, and making them laugh. Helping her residents have a great quality of life was one of her main passions.

DeDe's favorite holiday was Halloween, when she could enjoy her favorite movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. She also loved cats, specifically her long-haired feline friend, Spike, and leaves behind her beloved Daisy. DeDe had a unique sense of humor, and made her family laugh often with her antics.

DeDe is preceded in death by her mother; sister, Melissa Hammer; and grandparents, Bud and Rose Marie Cochran, and Willard and Agnes Hammer.

DeDe is survived by her father; daughter, Kristen Cheung; brother, Jason (Tabitha) Hammer; nephews, Brendon and Noah Hammer; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) and left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service at 1883 US Highway 54 in Iola, Kansas. Condolences to the family may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
