Deborah JoAnn Kaufman (Kerr), age 68, passed away September 2, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kansas. Deborah was born to Berkley Wayne Kerr l and Patricia Ann (Gambill) Sproul on July 13, 1958, in Iola, Kansas.

Deborah was a worker, she worked summers and part-time after school as a waitress at the Chuck Shack Cafe in Iola. After graduating from Iola High School in 1976, she worked many jobs including Thompson Poultry, H.L.Miller and Son, Walmart, and 31 years at Gates Rubber Company before retiring due to health.

She had deep faith, she lived life well, loved to see others happy and laugh. She will be remembered and missed by those that knew her.

In 2005 she was united in marriage to Greg Kaufman in Las Vegas. Deborah beamed with love for Greg, they had a deep and meaningful love not many get to experience. They enjoyed fishing, camping and riding jet skis for many years. She and her husband enjoyed casino trips, and she enjoyed taking her mom on overnight bingo/casino trips to Oklahoma. She liked to host holiday gatherings. She loved cooking and sharing meals with others. She loved spending time with her two granddaughters. She loved giving gifts special to the person receiving them.

She was a 26-year cancer survivor. She loved and received excellent care from her doctor and all the nurses at the Chanute Cancer Center, where she received all her treatments. They all became friends and their mutual love became a source of comfort like family.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents; her father, Berkley Kerr I; step-father, Edwin (Monk) Sproul; sister, Diana Spear; niece, Cisha Wallace; father-in-law, Courtney Kaufman; and mother-in-law, Janette Kaufman.


She is survived by her husband, Greg, of the home; her mother, Patricia Sproul; step-son, Jeb Kaufman ( Lauren); granddaughters, Capri and Collette; brother, Berkley Kerr II (Pam); brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Spear; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.


A visitation for family and friends will be Friday, September 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
