Cindi Sue VanHouden, age 67, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at her home. Cindi was born December 24, 1957, in Twentynine Palms, California, to John R. (Tom) Folk and Jeri Sue (Cox) Folk.
Cindi graduated in 1975 from Iola High School. She and Chris VanHouden were married August 20, 1988, in Neosho Falls, Kansas.
Cindi worked many years in nursing as a certified nursing aide and later on as a certified medication aide in area nursing homes, retiring in 2008.
Cindi loved being with her grandchildren. Cindi enjoyed shopping and going on shopping trips with her girlfriends. She liked crafting, going to concerts, and NASCAR races. Family was extremely important to her.
Cindi was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Anthony Folk; sister, Janeen Renee Wilson; grandson, Bryce Wade VanHouden; and father-in-law, Harold Lee (Red) VanHouden.
Cindi is survived by her husband, Chris, of the home; son, Rusty (Destini Bailey) VanHouden; daughter, Nicole Sue Allison; ten grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Teresa (Tim) Henry; bonus son, Casey Jenson; her fur baby, Jasmine Marie; and numerous other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service to honor Cindi's life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Wings of Warriors or Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
