Carla Brocker, age 59, of Parker, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Most knew her as Carla. Many knew her as the Cake Lady. Hundreds knew her as a friend. Everyone just "knew" her!
Carla devoted her life to giving. Doing for others has been her motto since young childhood. It started with teaching her younger sisters and ended with feeding her community with her cakes. For 59 years, Carla devoted her life to everyone around her. Hardly sneaking a moment for herself. Stubborn as a mule. Loyal to a fault.
Her grandkids were, hands down, the most important part of her life. Never a missed game, birthday, or any major event. Her world revolved around all of them. Her home, built from the ground up with her husband Mike, was another pride of hers! Her flower beds, trinkets, front porch. She poured herself into creating a perfect oasis! If you ever had the privilege to sit around her fire pit, you know the feeling. She was so proud of what they built.
Her children, biological or not, were her pride and joy. She would brag about them to everyone, smiling from ear to ear.
Cakes by Carla started in 2009 and continued to flourish the next 17 years. There is so much to be said of the talent Carla had for cake baking and decorating. Ask her husband, there were always mixers mixing into the wee hours of the night. She rarely turned anyone away even if she really didn't have time. Always pouring into others.
Carla was a doer, a piddler, a keep herself busy at all times. Devoted years to the Parker Community. Continued to be the class treasurer of Prairie View Class of 1986. She was just a staple in her hometown. She was a collector. Even if that meant collecting things that most would throw out. All things held sentimental value in her eyes. Carla had a gentle, kind soul.
The hardest part of saying goodbye will be the loss of phone calls, the loss of conversation, big or small, the loss of friendship, the loss of daily snap chats. This world will go on without her, but will never be the same.
What an honor it was to know her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Hardesty and brother, James Hardesty.
Carla is survived by her husband, Mike Brocker; her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, mother, sisters, nieces, nephews, and an entire community.
Carla's family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening, October 15, 2026, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Private family graveside services will be held later. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com
