Billie "Bill" O. Farmer

Bill Farmer, age 90, of Iola, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his home. He was born November 12, 1935, in Burlington, Kansas to Joseph N. Farmer and Della A. (Lore) Farmer.

Bill graduated from Leroy High School in 1952. Bill joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served 4 years. After that he served in the U.S. Navy Reserve until he retired at the age of 62. Bill drove a truck for most of his life hauling oil and commercial products. Bill had a passion for golf and would hop out of his truck at lunchtime to stop and play a quick round of golf.

After retirement, Bill spent a lot of time with his RV traveling around the United States. Bill took his children and grandchildren on a family vacation every year. Bill and his family made many special memories in Hawaii, Oregon, Washington and California.

Bill was always a joker, and his favorite saying was "It's five o'clock somewhere". He would tell people often that it's a great day to be alive. Bill was a lover of nature and enjoyed sitting in his garage watching the birds and the squirrels. Bill always looked forward to when the purple martins would come back every spring.

Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Della Farmer; brother, Nelson Farmer; brother, Gilbert Farmer; brother, Wayne Farmer; brother, Calvin Farmer; brother, Glenn Farmer; sister, Dorothy Farmer; and sister, Rozella and son, Tom, Crone.

He is survived by his children, Tim Farmer (Laharpe, KS), Tamra Farmer (Hershey Brooks) (Wichita, KS), John Crone (Leanna Mobbs) (Stockton, CA) , Trina Farmer (Iola, KS), Tonya Shaughnessy (Rick Horn) (Iola, KS); grandchildren, Sheryl Hill (Chase), Joshua Farmer (Ciara "Blue Hair"), Jessica "Philly" Olson (Skyler), Courtney Farmer (Mitch), Melissa Easley, Micah O'Brien (Angela); fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas 66749.
