Betty Ann Rees, age 89, of Garnett, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Anderson County Hospital Residential Living Center in Garnett.
Betty Ann Streeter was born on February 4, 1937, in Topeka, the third of seven children born to Jack and Bernice (Vowels) Streeter. She graduated from Seaman High School with the Class of 1955. Following high school, Betty worked at Capper's Weekly and later cleaned homes for Colonel Lynch.
On February 25, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Marvin Kenneth Rees in Topeka, Kansas. Together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. They first made their home in Topeka, where they welcomed their three children, Kent, Kirk, and Kara. In 1966, Marvin's work took the family to Olathe, where they continued raising their family.
Betty later worked as a secretary at Westview Elementary Developmental Learning Center before transferring to Meadow Lane Elementary. After retirement, Betty and Marvin moved to Garnett.
Betty was a faithful member of the Garnett Nazarene Church. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing cards with her sister and friends, and trips to the casino with lifelong friends Jack and Janet Shupe. Betty and Marvin also enjoyed traveling with the Shupes and Marvin's brother Dean and his wife Freda. She had a special love for animals, especially cats and dogs throughout the years. Above all else, Betty treasured family gatherings and spending time with her nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Marvin; her son, Kent; her brother, Jack; her sister, Darlene; and infant brother, Jerry.
She is survived by her children, Kirk (Kim) Rees and Kara (Mark) Keith; grandchildren, Ashley and Joel Kracht, Erin and Trent Stanley, Brittany Rees Kavanagh, Kurt Brumbaugh, Megan Cundiff, Travis Rees, Kris and Jenni Keith, Blayne and Tausha Keith, and Chelsey and Justin Dunnaway; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Austin Saathoff, Ty Stanley, Kainen and Kyler Kavanagh, Lily, Maci, Joey, Russell Keith,Tyson, Averie and Kimber Keith,Jaceigh, Lyndee, Kenzie, Brooke, Mylie Dunnaway, Norah Cundiff, Haley Bean, Jase Platt; and great-great-grandchildren, Dallas and McKenzie Saathoff, and Kyson Castleberry.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law's, Patty Streeter and Alma Sexton; brothers, Melvin and Shannon Streeter, John and Linda Streeter, and Keith and Debbie Streeter; along with many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced when arrangements are finalized. A private burial will take place following the service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Always and Furever Animal Sanctuary and left in care of the funeral home.
