Beth Maris Zimmerman, age 54, went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at home in Carlyle, Kansas. She passed peacefully with her husband, Steve, and her two sons, Caleb and Jacob, by her side.
Beth was born on December 4, 1971, in Winchester, Kansas. On June 2, 1996 she married Steve Zimmerman in White Cloud, Ks.
She was diagnosed with ALS in December of 2023 and faced the disease with remarkable strength, grace, and faith for two years, inspiring all who knew her.
Beth was deeply committed to education and lifelong learning. She graduated from Highland High School and went on to earn degrees from Highland Community College and Emporia State University. She later received her master's degree from Fort Hays State University. Beth dedicated her professional life to teaching, serving students in Oskaloosa and Eudora, Kansas. In 2020, Beth and her husband Steve accepted teaching positions with the Crest School District, where Beth taught junior high and high school business classes. She also coached volleyball and sponsored a highly successful FBLA program, leaving a lasting impact on her students through her leadership, encouragement, and passion for preparing young people for the future.
Beth will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, and her generous heart. She was a loving wife, proud mother, dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and teacher whose influence extended far beyond the classroom.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Zimmerman, of the home; her sons, Caleb and Jacob Zimmerman, of Wellsville, Kansas; her parents, Richard and Linda Maris of White Cloud, Kansas; and her sister, Juli (Steve) of Lewiston, Nebraska; mother-in-law Sharon Desert of Kansas City, Missouri and brother-in-law Mike Zimmerman (Rachel) of Baldwin City, Kansas. She is also survived by her nephews Eli (Lindsey) Smith, Wil (Leslie) Smith, Michael Zimmerman, and Colby Zimmerman; her great-nephews Troy and Carter Smith; and her great-nieces Cassidy and Tessa Smith.
Beth's legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
