Archie Ray Smith, Jr., age 79, of Iola, Kansas, passed away March 13, 2023, at his residence. Ray was born June 19, 1943, in Iola, Kansas, to Archie Ray Smith, Sr. and Marjorie (Robb) Smith.
Ray graduated in 1961 from LaHarpe High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war.
Ray and Marsha Raney were married December 4, 1972, in Miami, Oklahoma, and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Ray worked as an electrician for Monarch Cement, Humboldt, Kansas, for thirty-two years, retiring in 2004.
Ray was an avid fisherman! He liked to hunt squirrels, doves, rabbits, and quail. He enjoyed collecting coins, arrowheads, barbed wire, and metal detecting.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents.
Ray is survived by his wife, Marsha, of the home; sons, Tony (Chrystal) Smith, Iola, Kansas, Archie Ray Smith, III, Thayer, Missouri; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Judy) Smith, LaHarpe, Kansas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Cremation will take place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Wings of Warriors, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
