Vicki L. VanKooten, age 72, of Gridley, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Coffey County Hospital, Burlington, Kansas.
She was born August 21, 1948, in Malden, Missouri, the daughter of Fred Jr. and Nadia Maxine (Douglas) Emberton. Vicki graduated from Spring Hill High School, Spring Hill, Kansas.
Vicki married William John Bellinger in 1967 in Wellsville, Kansas, this union was blessed with four children, they later divorced. She then married Dean VanKooten. He preceded her in death.
She was a site manager for Meals on Wheels in Coffey County area; organized and prepared the Thanksgiving Community Dinners for a few years; she was always ready to volunteer for anyone in the community.
Vicki's greatest joy was her grandchildren and had a love for animals. She enjoyed the outdoors, sitting outside reading her books, gardening and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Maxine Emberton.
Vicki is survived by her children, Donnie Bellinger and wife Vikki of Waverly, Kansas; Kevin Bellinger and wife Aislynn of Garnett, Kansas; Kelvin Bellinger and wife Kristy of Lawrence, Kansas; and Kelly Coopman of Ottawa, Kansas; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Emberton and wife Nancy of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Cremation is planned, and the family will have a memorial at a later date.
