Teri A. Porter, age 59, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Teri was born January 4, 1962 to James and Virginia (Cochran) Nelson. She attended Friends University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Human Resources. Teri married Rocky Porter on March 27, 1992 in Miami, Oklahoma. Teri dedicated 32 years of her career to Gates Rubber Company. On January 29, 1989, she began her career by working on the floor and over the years worked her way up the corporate ladder to her final position as the Corporate Director of Human Resources for the entire company.
Teri enjoyed being on the farm with her family raising cattle. She loved to travel and go to casinos. She was known for being a hard worker that never complained. She got satisfaction out of helping the people at Gates Rubber Company.
Teri is preceded in death by her parents, James and Virginia Nelson.
Teri is survived by her husband of 29 years, Rocky Porter; children, Dustin Hicks, Tanner Porter, Jennifer Friend and husband, Terry, and Lisa Maloney and husband, Jimmy; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to honor the life of Teri will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas. Family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
