Roy Eugene Moorehouse, age 73, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. Roy was born November 11, 1945, to James and Irene (Owens) Moorehouse in Joplin, Missouri.
Roy graduated from High School in Carthage Missouri. Roy married Barbara (Leake) Moorehouse on May 24, 1975, in Iola, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters. Roy was the owner of Modern Copy Systems in Iola for many years. Later he owned a construction company.
Roy loved to fish and also take his grandchildren fishing. He was always jovial, never met a stranger, and just loved people in general. Roy’s grandkids were the light of his life. He enjoyed playing many games of poker with friends and family.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
Roy is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters Lori Nicoll and husband William of Carbondale, Kelly Mauk and husband David of Chanute; one special man he considered his son Pieter and wife Sofia Venter; four grandchildren Andrew and Paige Nicoll, Dawson and Morgan Mauk; three sisters Helen Stiffler, Mary Jean McCombs, Charlene Severn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
