Loren Mitchell

Loren Mitchell, age 84, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Loren was born May 30, 1937, to Elvyn and Anna (Daniels) Mitchell, in Independence, Kansas. He married Marvilla (Zeigler) Mitchell on May 16, 1959, in Sacramento, California. Their union was blessed with four children. Loren served in the United States Navy and National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion. Loren also served for a number of years as the Mayor of LaHarpe, Kansas. Camping was one of his favorite things to do, serving as camp host at Farlington Lake. Loren is preceded in death by his parents, Elvyn and Anna Mitchell; and brothers, Melvyn, Tom, and Wayne. Loren is survived by his wife of the home, Marvilla Mitchell; children, Harold Mitchell, Barbara Mitchell, David Mitchell (Gale), and Lori Ensminger (Alan); siblings, Theda Pentlin, Carl Mitchell, and Linda Simpson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. A funeral service to honor the life of Loren will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola, Kansas. Burial with military honors will follow at LaHarpe Cemetery in LaHarpe, Kansas. Family will greet friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. just prior to the service on Friday. Memorials in honor of Loren are suggested to the First Christian Church of Iola, Kansas, and may be left with the funeral home or mailed to 1883 U.S. Highway 54, Iola, Kansas, 66749.
